David Rose

David Rose is Johnny and Moira's too-cool-for-school, hipster son and the official owner of Schitt's Creek, having been gifted the town by his father Johnny as a joke on his sixteenth birthday. He is a main character on Schitt's Creek.

Having worked as a gallerist in New York City, David has curated many avant-garde exhibitions and performance art pieces, but has failed to cultivate many friends. Now, sharing a room with his sister Alexis at the Schitt's Creek Motel, he realizes that the friends he has made are giving him a very respectful amount of "space". David finds a kindred spirit in the motel's receptionist, Stevie Budd, who shares David's dry sense of humor and general distaste for other people. With Stevie's help, David is slowly readjusting to his life in Schitt's Creek, aside from a few obsessive-compulsive tendencies, occasional hypochondriac episodes, and slight but persisting fears of insects, germs, nature, plaid, and intimacy.

The self-described black sheep of the family, David continues to cope with his unexpected exile with trademark bitterness. But his sarcasm belies a deep knowledge of design and aesthetic, a craftsman’s eye for detail, and an impressive business acumen; all of which he must put to use as he strives to find a place for himself in Schitt’s Creek.

With the success of his store, David is able to focus a little more on his personal life, as his relationship with Patrick blossoms into something stable and serious. It’s uncharted territory for David, who finds he is ultimately willing to venture outside of his comfort zone for Patrick. David realizes this relationship requires just as much careful attention as the store, which proves to be tricky, since he is dating his co-worker.
